About

Hello, I’m James. I have been working in the fish trade since 2002, having left the City of London behind to work alongside my father Alan, the founder of Hutton Road Fisheries.

You could say that working with fish is something of a tradition in my family. Dad began his career at his fathers (my grandfathers) fishmongers in London’s East End, before relocating to Essex to start his own business in Canvey Island in the late 1960’s. Hutton Road Fisheries was then established in 1986 and is still a thriving establishment with a large and loyal customer base. Thirty years on, in 2016, my father retired leaving me at the helm.

This way of life has enriched me with a vast knowledge of fish, and as a master blocksman I am happy to prepare it in any way you like. I am proud of my profession and heritage and believe that this is demonstrated through the care and attention I give to customers. I aim to offer you the very best produce coupled with any advice that you might need on portion sizes, cooking methods or complimentary flavours.

Please do read more about what is available or get in touch with any questions. I look forward to welcoming you to Hutton Road Fisheries soon.
